My name is Gregory, and I serve as a stake pool operator for Cardano. We are a Canadian base pool operator specifically in the city of Montreal, Québec. I discovered Cardano in 2018, and I was immediately captivated by its foundational principles of decentralization. I have been actively involved since the inception of the ITN Rust. I'm also a Node validator for Xerberus, Apex Fusion and Midnight. Those platforms are build into the Cardano ecosystem. Cardano represents the third generation of cryptocurrency, characterized by its innovative technologies and transformative potential. The opportunities that this platform provides are genuinely remarkable and have the capacity to affect significant change. Additionally, I take pride in being a member of the thriving Cardano community, which continues to expand and evolve. The native currency of Cardano is ADA. My objective is to operate a sustainable stake pool over the long term while contributing to the advancement of Cardano's technological framework and partially donating the funds to Haiti .
Haiti, the homeland of my parents, is a nation of remarkable beauty, characterized by its numerous islands. However, it is also recognized as one of the poorest countries, a persistent challenge that profoundly impacts the daily lives of its residents. The community faces significant issues, including inadequate housing, nutritional deficiencies, limited access to education, healthcare disparities, high infant mortality rates, and numerous environmental challenges that are prevalent among its most disadvantaged populations. In response to these pressing needs, I am committed to allocating 25% of my annual stake rewards to support nutritional and educational initiatives for children in Haiti. Furthermore, I aim to introduce Cardano technology to the youth of Haiti by providing educational opportunities in computer science, technology, and cryptocurrency. The Cardano community is dedicated to assisting developing nations, uniting efforts to uplift the Haitian community, particularly its children. Addressing these complex challenges is not an endeavor that can be undertaken in isolation. To achieve this vision, I require a minimum of 1.5 million ADA, a sum that will ensure blocks in each epoch, thereby maximizing the impact of our collective efforts.
In 1825, Haiti commenced the payment of reparations amounting to $21 billion to France, a regrettable obligation imposed merely two decades after the nation achieved its hard-won independence. This unprecedented financial burden would have been formidable for any nascent state; however, Haiti's unique position as a republic established by formerly enslaved individuals made its struggle particularly significant. The victorious revolution against French colonial rule was perceived as a direct affront by slaveholding nations, including the United States, which harbored deep-seated racial prejudices. Consequently, Haiti, a small and economically challenged nation isolated in a hostile international environment, was compelled to comply with France's demands for reparations. These demands were forcefully presented to the Haitian government via a fleet of heavily armed French warships. On January 12, 2010, Haiti confronted a catastrophic earthquake that resulted in the near-total destruction of its capital, Port-au-Prince, along with extensive damage to other regions. This natural disaster had a profound and devastating effect on the Haitian populace, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children. The repercussions of this disaster continue to pose severe challenges, with the current situation remaining critical and increasingly concerning.
